Many people are finding themselves unemployed after this pandemic and a job market overwhelmed by companies still uncertain of their own future and halting on hiring new employees. In order to thrive on their new situations there are two very important steps to take until the dream job comes up again.
First -
Many of my clients tell me they have a budget for their financial life, but when I ask what is the surplus or deficit on their budget, they have no idea what I am talking about. This shows me that most of those budgets are not actually on paper, but in their heads. We are masters at convincing ourselves we are doing better or worst than we think. We live above our means at times and do not want to give up some luxuries we have enjoyed for a long time. We are ashamed of having to account for every penny we spend, we attached a sense of failure to this. I remember when clipping coupons was something smart people did to save money, today is seen as a sign of poverty. So a real budget that shows you your real financial situation is a must. Denying what our real financial situation is only more damaging.
Second -
Step out of the box of about what you think your perfect working situation may be. With the help of someone who understand how is done, make a list of your professional and personal assets and then try to match those with the industry in which they would be the most useful. Knowing what we excel at and how to apply it is the secret to survival and eventual success, allowing us to find the right job or create the right business for ourselves. This may just be the perfect time to start a new business, the lending and new technology opportunities are everywhere, and considering how much time we have at home now, it also it maybe a perfect time to reconsider our course. Having your own business is not for everyone, but with the right help on your team, a money man, a lawyer, or a hard working partner it can be a totally new way of life. The rush of the launch day of your new business and the excitement of seeing it grow is very rewarding.
I have been a business owner most of my life and would not change it. Many my friends in the corporate world find themselves out of work and lost as far as what their professional future holds. Self doubt is the number one cause of people not venturing into a new path, not what that path may hold for them. With today's technology we can find so much information about our brand new ideas and concepts.
At the base of all this, is accurately keeping track of numbers both in our personal and professional finances, my brother gave me a piece of advice when I opened my first business years ago; he said: 1+1=2. Money is ruled by math, and math is not flexible, and sadly enough our wonderful spiritual and emotional lives are depending in our financial, mathematic life.
